Hi, I'm Julian McMillan

Hello, I'm Julian, a Sydney-based portrait photographer. I've been professionally photographing people for two years now across a wide variety of styles and genres.

I photograph people because people, in my opinion, make for the most captivating subjects. You can tell a lot about a person through their eyes - and if you were to analyze the best portraits ever taken, you’ll see they all start with the eyes. Steve McCurry’s “Afghan Girl”  for example.

I also am active in the Sydney Street Photography community - street photography being an almost documentary-like style that captures the everyday movements of the city and modern culture.

Dramatic clouds billow over a volcanic mountain peak at sunset with warm golden light illuminating the landscape.

And sometimes I like to hit the road to photograph what the world has to offer, which occasionally leads to hiking steep trails on starlit nights to speeding away from heavy storms on outback flood plains.

And wherever I can, wherever I am, if I see an animal of any kind, I WILL stop to take a photo!
